Our Coast Guard Base in Kodiak, Alaska, is one of the largest in the world with over 3,500 active duty, retired military, DHS civilians and family members in the area. Kodiak, also known as the "Emerald Island" is located approximately 250 miles southwest of Anchorage and is the second largest island belonging to the United States. Although considered remote from usual surroundings, Kodiak provides excellent recreational opportunities for everyone to enjoy by just stepping out your front door. If you like the outdoors, you will soon learn to love Kodiak and our MWR program will help create the most memorable times of your life.

Come in from the cold and enjoy a variety of family friendly shows complete with fresh popcorn and sweet treats! Evening shows feature a variety of flicks perfect for a friendly gathering or date night. Everything from new releases to classic features!
Try something new or something familiar in new territory – head out on the water or out on the road with great gear provided by MWR. Our Boat House offers boats, rafts, and poles for halibut or salmon fishing. We even have vacuum sealers and temporary freezer storage for your catch. Or if you prefer dry ground give our campers and ATV trailers a try!
Kick up your feet and relax in our comfortable and centrally located Guest House. Rooms offer Cable TV and kitchenettes. Also available is 24 hour coffee, full kitchens on each floor, wireless internet access, and a playroom for the kids!

Learn a little bit about what make Kodiak MWR so special.
The Aquatics Facility is located in the Northern Lights Recreation Center. The
pool, built in 1995, is 25 yards long and features a slide and zero entry handicap access. Activities offered at the pool include daily lap swimming, open swim, and water aerobics.
The Northern Lights Recreation Facility is a WWII historical landmark, which was completely remodeled in 1997. Inside the facility, patrons will find a modern, cardio room, separate weight room, aerobics room (functional fitness training space)...
Space A transportation is typically available two to three times a month to Anchorage. The upcoming flight schedule can be found in both the Base Kodiak and Air Station Kodiak Plans of the Week.
